What is Indie Link?

The word 'indie' in relation to music is derived from the 'independent' record companies such as the UK's Factory Records, which produced so-called 'underground' bands Joy Division and such like.
It's a bit of a misnomer these days, given that bands we could refer to as 'indie' (such as Puressence or Whipping Boy) are signed to major labels (Island and Columbia, respectively). The term 'indie' is now used more frequently to describe a genre of music also known as 'alternative'.
Anyway, enough harping on about 'genres' and other pretentious stuff. My aim in these pages was merely to list my record collection on the web, offering people the chance to comment, swap CDs, offer to give me freebies (bands take note), or beg me to bootleg stuff. However, if I actually manage to maintain a passing interest in these pages, I hope to add other features and links. We'll see how it goes...
